Child Safety Car Seat Checks

Child Safety Car Seats Save Lives

Did you know that using child safety seats can reduce fatalities by 71 percent among babies and as much as 54 percent among toddlers? You might think this is a fixed issue, since the state law requires children to be restrained in car seats, but that’s not the case.

Incorrectly Installed Car Seats Abound

Studies show that 70% of children are incorrectly restrained, most often because the car seat is installed incorrectly. Additionally, many children under 8 years of age are allowed to use adult seat belts alone. This is not safe for them — they should use a booster seat with an adult seat belt. And children under 13 years old should not be allowed to ride in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger-side air bag.

Make sure you are not among the 7 in 10 with incorrectly installed car seats or boosters by visiting one of the car seat safety checks available around the region on regular dates:

Montgomery County has  a seat check coming up on February 27 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm at

Battalion 1 Fire Station
325 Stump Road
Montgomeryville, PA 18936

Call for an appointment: 610-278-5119

A printable flyer is available showing all Montgomery County car seat check locations and dates.

There are car seat checks available at several locations in the 5-county PHILADELPHIA region during MARCH and APRIL 2015.
